Introduction

As a citizen of earth, we have responsibility to save and protect all the living things especially animals. They also need food and shelter just like us. Of 8,300 known animal species, 8% are extinct and 22% are endangered. These United Nations figures place the planet on the brink of what some scientists now call "the sixth mass extinction." The impact of human action on ecosystems is causing many species to disappear, with irreversible harm to biodiversity and the environment. Therefore, we must always save and protect them by not killing them for any benefit and not randomly destry their hometown.

Panda

  1. Sceintific name: Ailuropoda melanoleuca
  2. Type: Mammals
  3. Diet: Omnivore
  4. Average lifespan: 20 years
  5. Size: 4 to 5 feet
  6. Weight: 300 pounds (SIZE RELATIVE TO A 6-FT MAN)

The panda, with its distinctive black and white coat, is adored by the world and considered a National treasure in China. Pandas live mainly in temperate forests high in the mountains of southwest China, where they subsist almost entirely on bamboo. They must eat around 26 to 84 pounds of it every day, depending on what part of the bamboo they are eating. They use their enlarged wrist bones that function as opposable thumbs. These bears are excellent tree climbers despite their bulk. The reason that they become the endangered animal is the habitat destruction. They are also lack of bamboo to eat due to the development of some forests or lands.

Polar Bear

  1. Scientific name: Ursus maritimus
  2. Type: Mammals
  3. Diet: Carnivore
  4. Average lifespan: 25 to 30 years

The largest bear in the world and the Arctic's top predator, polar bears are a powerful symbol of the strength and endurance of the Arctic. Considered talented swimmers, polar bears can sustain a pace of six miles per hour by paddling with their front paws and holding their hind legs flat like a rudder. They have a thick layer of body fat and a water-repellent coat that insulates them from the cold air and water. Polar bears rely heavily on sea ice for traveling, hunting, resting, mating and, in some areas, maternal dens. The reason of polar bear become endangered animal is because the climate changes and causes polar bear loss habitat.

About

Here are some examples of endangered animals. Through this, we can learn more about why the animals will become endangered animals and also know more details about them.
Elephant
  1. Scientific name: Elephas maximus

  6. Height: Male: 2,8 m (Adult, At Shoulder), Female: 2,4 m (Adult, At Shoulder)

The population has declined by an estimated 50 percent over the past 75 years, and there are an estimated 20,000 to 40,000 Asian elephants left in the wild. The reason they become endangered animal is human always kill them to get the tusk and other parts for benefit.

  3. Clutch size: 110
  4. Average lifespan: Some can up to 50 years
  5. Length: 1,8 – 2,2 m (Adult)
  6. Speed: 35 km/h (Maximum, In The Water, Swimming)

They are the largest sea turtle species and also one of the most migratory, crossing both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The reason sea turtle is endangered is human activity.People always kill them for their eggs, meat, skin and shells, and suffer from poaching and over-exploitation. Climate change also impacts sea turtle nesting beaches and eggs.

It is estimated that there are only 3,500 tigers remaining in the wild worldwide. The reason they are endangered is human activity. They always kill them and also the development causes them loss habitat.

Rhinoceros
  1. Scientific name: Rhinoceros sondaicus

  3. Height: 4.6–5.8 feet
  4. Weight: 1,984 – 5,071 pounds
  5. Lenght: 10–10.5 feet

  6. Size: Four to five feet with a tail up to 36 inches

There are an estimated 4,080-6,590 snow leopards in the wild, but it is difficult for scientists to know for sure. Snow leopards live in the mountainous regions of central and southern Asia. They are found in 12 countries—including China, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Russia, and Mongolia.
